The other day I read a shocking news story, one that has really stayed with me -  a landlord had been given a lifetime ban on letting properties. It’s a thought that would bring any landlord out in a cold sweat, and it was all down to him breaking the law.

He was renting out a three-bedroomed, two storey home to eleven tenants. Multiple beds were shoved into rooms and neighbours had complained about noise and anti-social behaviour. Described as a slum, he was charging on average, £1,100 per tenant, and was really taking advantage of London’s rental market.

The quick win he thought he was getting had led him into hot water- slapped with a ban and a fine to cover costs, he won’t be letting out properties ever again.

It’s not the most uplifting of stories, but it does highlight how important it is to abide by strict regulations when letting your property - it reminded me of why I’m so passionate about all that Concentric Sales and Lettings have to offer.
